Our 247-Point Review Methodology

Every casino we review is evaluated against the same 247-point framework. This page explains exactly what we measure, how we measure it, and how individual scores combine into an overall rating. No part of this process is negotiable.

How We Evaluate Casinos

Our evaluation framework consists of 247 individual data points organized into 7 categories. Each data point is either a binary check (pass/fail), a quantitative measurement (e.g., withdrawal processing time in hours), or a qualitative assessment scored on a standardized rubric. The framework was developed over 18 months of iterative testing and calibration, drawing on regulatory frameworks from the UKGC, MGA, and SGA.

Every review begins with a minimum 14-day evaluation period during which our team conducts real-money testing. We make actual deposits using multiple payment methods, place real wagers, request withdrawals, and interact with customer support — all under conditions identical to those experienced by regular players. We do not accept VIP treatment, promotional credits, or expedited processing during testing.

The 7 Evaluation Categories

Our 247 data points are distributed across 7 categories, each weighted according to its impact on player safety and experience.

01
Licensing & Regulation
42 data points · 25% weight

We verify every licensing claim directly with the issuing authority. This category covers jurisdiction of registration, license validity and standing, regulatory tier assessment, compliance history, responsible gambling tool implementation, self-exclusion program availability, dispute resolution mechanisms, and anti-money laundering controls. Operators holding Tier-1 licenses (UKGC, MGA, SGA) score higher than those with Tier-2 (Curacao, Gibraltar) or Tier-3 credentials.

02
Financial Infrastructure
38 data points · 20% weight

We test every supported payment method with real transactions. This covers deposit methods and processing times, withdrawal methods and processing times, minimum and maximum transaction limits, fee structures, currency support, KYC verification speed, and payout consistency over multiple test transactions. We measure actual withdrawal times — not advertised times — by submitting withdrawal requests and recording the elapsed time to receipt.

03
Game Library & Software
35 data points · 15% weight

We audit the game catalog for breadth, quality, and fairness. This includes total game count verification, provider diversity, RTP transparency, live dealer availability, mobile game compatibility, game loading performance, and the presence of independently audited random number generators. We verify provider partnerships by cross-referencing operator claims with provider directories.

04
Security & Privacy
32 data points · 15% weight

We assess technical security measures and data protection practices. This covers SSL/TLS implementation, two-factor authentication availability, privacy policy compliance with GDPR and applicable regulations, data breach history, third-party security audits, and secure payment processing certifications. Our technical team independently scans for common web vulnerabilities and verifies encryption standards.

05
Bonus Terms & Fairness
35 data points · 10% weight

We read every word of the bonus terms. This category examines welcome bonus structure, wagering requirements, maximum bet restrictions during bonus play, game contribution percentages, time limits, maximum withdrawal caps on bonus winnings, and the clarity and accessibility of terms and conditions. Operators with predatory wagering requirements (above 45x) or hidden restrictions receive significant score reductions.

06
Customer Support
30 data points · 10% weight

We contact support through every available channel. This covers live chat availability and response time, email response time and quality, phone support availability, support language coverage, knowledge base quality, complaint handling procedures, and escalation pathways. We submit test queries covering account verification, bonus terms, withdrawal processing, and responsible gambling — then evaluate both speed and accuracy of responses.

07
User Experience & Platform
35 data points · 5% weight

We evaluate the platform across devices and contexts. This includes mobile responsiveness, page load performance, navigation structure, account management interface, transaction history accessibility, language support quality, and accessibility compliance. We test on iOS, Android, and desktop browsers under varying network conditions to assess real-world performance.

The Review Process

Every casino review follows a standardized 5-phase process designed to ensure consistency, thoroughness, and editorial integrity.

1
Preliminary Research (Days 1-2)

We verify licensing credentials directly with regulatory authorities, review the operator's corporate structure and ownership history, and assess any outstanding regulatory actions or player complaints in public records. Operators that fail critical licensing checks are flagged and may receive a reduced review scope.

2
Account Creation & Deposit Testing (Days 3-5)

We register a standard player account using legitimate identity documents. We test the KYC verification process for speed and compliance, then make deposits through multiple payment methods — typically including a credit card, an e-wallet, and a cryptocurrency where supported — recording processing times and any fees applied.

3
Gameplay & Platform Evaluation (Days 6-10)

We test the game library across categories, verifying game counts, provider availability, and loading performance. We interact with live dealer tables, test mobile compatibility, and evaluate the overall user experience. We also verify bonus terms by claiming available promotions and testing wagering requirement mechanics under real conditions.

4
Withdrawal Testing & Support Evaluation (Days 11-13)

We submit withdrawal requests through multiple methods and record actual processing times. We contact customer support through all available channels with standardized test queries, evaluating response speed, accuracy, and helpfulness. We verify that responsible gambling tools (deposit limits, self-exclusion, reality checks) function as documented.

5
Scoring, Review & Publication (Day 14+)

All 247 data points are compiled, scored, and weighted to produce the final rating. The review is drafted, fact-checked by a second team member, and published. Every published review includes specific evidence supporting the assigned rating, documented pros and cons, and transparent disclosure of any limitations encountered during testing.

How Scores Are Calculated

Each of the 247 data points receives a score from 0 to 10. These individual scores are aggregated within their category using a weighted average, producing 7 category scores. The 7 category scores are then combined using the weights specified above (Licensing 25%, Financial 20%, Games 15%, Security 15%, Bonuses 10%, Support 10%, UX 5%) to produce the final overall rating on a 0-10 scale, displayed to one decimal place.

Scores are calibrated against the full population of reviewed casinos to ensure consistency. When a new data point is added to the framework or a category weight is adjusted, all existing reviews are re-scored to maintain comparability. We do not grade on a curve — it is theoretically possible (though unlikely) for all reviewed casinos to score above 9.0, or for all to score below 5.0. The framework measures absolute quality, not relative position.

Ongoing Monitoring & Updates

A published review is not a static document. Our monitoring systems continuously track regulatory changes, license status updates, player complaint trends, and significant operational changes (ownership transfers, platform migrations, payment method additions/removals) across all reviewed operators. When material changes are detected, the affected review is flagged for reassessment.

Reviews are comprehensively re-evaluated at minimum every 12 months, or sooner if triggered by a significant event. Score adjustments — both upgrades and downgrades — are applied immediately upon completion of reassessment. We maintain a public changelog for each review, documenting when scores were last updated and the reasons for any rating changes.
